Obi-Wan Kenobi - Cargo Spaceport

Here’s some concept designs of the Cargo Spaceport I helped design for the Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi TV-series.

In this location Obi-Wan is confronted by the inquisitor Reva and there’s a fight.
I wanted to create interesting “obstacles” for this fight like boxes and containers, elevators, conveyor belts on the ground and cargo lift in the air.

There are some fun details in the bg of the interior shots, like like the rebel transport and the cargo lifter I designed for sw battlefront.
I worked on designing this space semi open, to get a better view of the city and planet Daiyu, also to allow more wind and rain for a dramatic effect.

I also designed some cargo shuttles to fill the scene with, these were more like a placeholder to make the set more believable. I always try to think about the set as a whole, thinking what would logically be in the set, even if it’s not described in the brief initially. And sometimes that means designing background vehicles, characters and props. And in this case a background city, or at least the impression of it since I didn’t want to spend too much of my time with this assignment (designing the cargo bay) thinking of the bg.

Sometimes I do these grey toon shaded illustrations to get the design approved before jumping in to color, texture, mood and lighting.
